UB Juris Program Recognized by CHED

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) recognized the Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) program of the UB College of Law as Model Law Curriculum under CMO No. 17 Series of 2008. In an evaluation conducted by CHED among educational institutions authorized to offer the Bachelor of Laws/JD program, UB’s curriculum notched as forerunner, followed by the one used by the Ateneo Law School. A law/juris student may complete the JD program of UB after hurdling 154 units of legal education.

Citing an article that came out in the Philippine Daily Inquirer last September 24, 2009, CHED identified the nation’s top 20 law schools, where UB’s College of Law came in 15th. The other law schools mentioned were: Ateneo de Manila University, San Beda College, University of the Philippines, Far Eastern University-DLSU (Juris Doctor-MBA), Ateneo de Davao University, University of San Carlos, University of Santo Tomas, University of Cebu, University of Perpetual Help-Rizal, Arellano University, Xavier University, Far Eastern University, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, University of San Agustin, Palawan State University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Saint Louis University, Lyceum of the Philippines, and the San Sebastian College-Recolectos de Manila. For this recognition, UB College of Law merited an incentive package from the Commission amounting to P500,000 which was given last March 8, 2010.

With the juris curriculum followed in University of Batangas, JD students are assured that they are at par, or even better than other Metro Manila universities offering Bachelor of Laws or JD program.

Admission to the UB College of Law is still ongoing. Law Freshmen Entrance Examination is administered every Saturday, 9-11am. For details, please get in touch with Atty. Edna del Rosario, Associate Dean, at (043) 723-1446 local 107.
