UB Adopts Barangay Sala (of Balete, Batangas) |
July 7, 2010. After the groundbreaking ceremony for the University of Batangas Lipa Campus (UBLC), UB President Dr. Hernando B. Perez, together with some members of the Academic Council motored to Barangay Sala, in Balete, Batangas to grace the MOA-signing activity. The partnership between UB and Brgy Sala will stay in effect from 2010-2015. The adopt-a-barangay program, spearheaded by UB’s Community Extension Services (CES), has been an ongoing CSR program of the institution for several years already. Brgy. Sala is already the fourth adopted community after Brgy. Munting Tubig, in Ibaan, Batangas (2005-2010). A simple program was prepared to mark this event, with the UB Dance Company and UB Jazz Band performing.
On hand to welcome the UB delegation were: Brgy. Chairman Arlan P. Garcia and the entire Sangguniang Brgy. Council came full force, DepEd District Supervisor and Principal of Balete Central School – Dr. Cecilia B. Ocampo, Mrs. Mariza Hidalgo (wife of Balete Mayor Leovino Hidalgo) as well as the hospitable residents. CES coordinators composed of faculty members and non-teaching staff from UB who attended also conducted a survey on Community Needs Assessment (CNA).
The agreement between UB and Brgy. Sala was signed by Dr. H.B. Perez and Brgy. Capt. A. P. Garcia., witnessed by Atty. Jesus V. Mayo (VP-Student & External Affairs) and Director Rogelio I. Talag (Student Affairs & External Programs), Mr. Danilo Café and Mrs. M. Hidalgo
