In the incessant quest of the University to serve the country for sustainable development and to be a responsible Higher Education Institution (HEI), the Center for Publication, Research, Linkages and Liaison (CPReLL) headed by Vice President Dr. Florencio V. Reyes, sent two newly hired full time researchers Mr. Julio Romeo T. Chavez and Mr. Leo Kris M. Palao both graduate of the University of the Philippines Los Baños to attend the national training on “Responding to Climate Change through Research and Development in Agriculture” last June 15 to 18, 2010 at SERCA, UPLB, College, Laguna.

This is in response to the country’s policy which is to strengthen, consolidate and institutionalize the research and development initiatives to address climate change in the context of sustainable development (Climate Change Act 2009 RA 9729).

3. Discussed the concepts, methods and procedures in mitigating and adapting to climate change; and

4. Guided the participants in drafting a capsule proposal on a research initiative deemed necessary in better understanding the impact of climate change on the agricultural development of their respective areas of responsibility.

As a result of the activities attended, proposed forum, research proposal workshops and information and education campaign about climate change on a site specific basis will be conducted for the in-house training.
