Qualified UB High Scholars to fly to Korea for College Education

After the successful joint venture of University of Batangas (UB) and Yeungnam University (South Korea) last June 02, 2009, the partnership once again paved a very important undertaking at the onset of 2010.

In recognition of the University of Batangas’ global competitiveness, the Korean Government is sponsoring three Batangueno youth as beneficiaries of a 5-year College Scholarship Program. The scholarship grant entails the student to pursue an undergraduate course in South Korea. It further aims to conduct advanced studies in Korea’s higher educational institutions in order to promote international exchanges in education and mutual friendship between the countries.

UB is entitled to officially nominate three (3) scholarship grantees who will be joining more than one hundred other grantees from different nations. As set by UB, only current High School Seniors and/ or UB High Alumni who have not undergone college education are qualified to undergo screening. The selection process started in the latter part of December 2009 and is being finalized at present. As soon as the selection body, headed by Atty. Jesus Victor V. Mayo (VP for Student and External Affairs), identifies the three UB students, the submission of required documents will immediately follow to meet the deadline set by the Korean Government.

This is another remarkable leap for the University of Batangas after a victorious 2009 that saw the realization of its ISO 9001:2008 Certification and granting by CHED of its Deregulated Status.
