HISTORICAL
BACKGROUND |

The University of Batangas Special Children Foundation (UBSCF)
was formally established on September 23, 1999. In line with the legacy of
the founders of University of Batangas to provide education to Batangueños, the
members of the Board of Trustees governing the foundation uphold this commitment
in their desire to provide individualized and comprehensive special education program
modules for handicapped children and youth. From the onset of its conceptualization,
it was decided by the organizers that the facility be constructed in its third campus
in Pallocan East,Batangas City.

GOALS AND PHILOSOPHY |
|
The foundation believes that every person with physical, behavioral and learning
handicap is entitled to maximum development of his potential towards the attainment
of the individual self-fulfillment. It is committed to enable its clientele enjoy
social relationships and participate in community affairs.

In consonance with the faith of the University of Batangas on the dignity of the
human person and its democratic processes, the program seeks to provide special
education curricula geared to the learner’s unique needs. Further, it adopts
a vital concern to make him an independent, productive and integral member of mainstream
society.

PROGRAMS |

Individualized Intervention Program
|
|
|
|
|
This program addresses major behavioral issues and focuses on skills-building, particularly
pre-academic and daily living skills. It equips the individual with skills that
will enable them to function efficiently in small group settings.

Academic Program
|
|
|
|
|
Geard towards equiping individuals with a base sat of both academic and functional
skills that they would need in trasition programs such as mainstreaming or prevocational
training. This program enhances the individual's potentials and maximizes their
skills that would enable them to function effectively within group and social settings.

|
|
Integration and Partial Mainstreaming
|
|
|
|
|
Sub-program under the academics, integration focuses on enabling individuals to
adapt to structured regular school setting by immersing them in selected classes
in the UB Elementary Department. Partial Mainstreaming, meanwhile, prepares students
for full mainstreaming via inclusion in regular classes with progress close monitoring
from the UBSCF team, also in the UB Elementary Department.

Independent Living Skills Program
|
|
|
|
|
This Program is geared towards preparing an individual for home-bound vocational
options that will enable them to function efficiently to thier home environment.
Tailored to suit the needs older children and adolescents with special with needs,
this program focuses on an individual's personal awareness and personal management
skills in the home environment and similar settings.

|
Pre-Vocational/Vocational Program
|
|
|
|
|
This program prepares an individual towards the vocational placements options upon
exit from school. Specifically tailoredto suit the the needs of older children and
adolescents with specila needs, this program focuses on an individual'sworking behavior,
specific vocational skills as well as monitoring the quality of one's work. This
program prepares an individual towards integrationin the mainstream society, particularly
in structed work environments.

ADMISSION CRITERIA |
|
|
Children ages 2 and above
|
|
|
No serious visual or profound hearing loss
|
|
|
Refferal from a Development Pediatritian/ SPED Diagnostician and/or other related
professional
|
|
|
Photocopy of birth certificate and past clinical and school records
|
The Foundation welcomes any form
of donation from generous individuals and corporations.
