Programs Offered

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN – 4 Yrs.) Equip the students with knowledge, skills and attitudes through various activities designed to enable the nursing students to have quality nursing education and to develop the students’ shells in rendering quality nursing care to their patients and ability to collaborate with other members of the health care team.

Diploma in Midwifery (DMID – 2 Yrs.) Provide the students with theoretical education in a supportive and caring learning environment and spend a significant amount of time in gaining midwifery practice experience across a wide variety of settings including home, hospital and community services. The Department aims to uphold excellence in Midwifery education and is committed to the task of providing a well- rounded program that prepares student to practice Midwifery with a high standard proficiency, skills and professionalism.

The program aims for its students to: - Acquire a relevant and quality midwifery program responsive to the global midwifery practice and development.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES

- Perform relevant midwifery procedures efficiently and competently including vital sign taking, obtaining pertinent history and physical assessment.
- Practice safe and quality care to normal and low risk mother during pregnancy, labor and puerperium, including newborn, infant and children.
- Demonstrate appropriate care and life saving measures during obstetrical emergencies such as administering IV fluids and cardio pulmonary resuscitation.
- Consistently adhere to Professional Code of Ethics, professional standards, and moral values in the practice of midwifery profession.
- Detect abnormal conditions of the mother and/or newborn and facilitate referrals as necessary.

Health Care Services NC II (Nursing Aide) A one year course that equips the student with knowledge in basic nursing care and trainings to assist the registered nurse with vital signs taking, bedside care excluding any invasive procedure.

Care giving Program NCII (CG – 6 Months) A six-month training program designed to prepare students to be globally competitive in giving care to clients especially the elderly. The modules will develop their personality, skills and understanding of the behaviour, disease process and other needs of clients.
